How to play Guess The Rank
A great shot is one clue. The decisions around it often tell you more. Watch a gameplay clip and estimate the player's rank, then compare your guess with the submitted rank.
Your first game
- Choose a game you know. Valorant and Rocket League are good starting points if you already play them.
- Pick Classic for a short session or Survival for a longer challenge. You can play both without an account.
- Watch the clip before choosing. Look at positioning, movement and what the player does when the first plan fails.
- Select a rank and submit your guess. Read the result, then move to the next clip.
There is no daily puzzle limit in Classic or Survival. Start another game whenever you like. The community library can repeat clips.
Classic and Survival scoring
Classic lasts 3 rounds. Your distance from the submitted rank determines your score:

Survival starts with 3 lives. In games with rank buttons, a guess more than one rank away costs a life. Keep going until all lives are gone.
Chess uses rating bands
In Chess, replay the moves and choose the rating range that fits. The website uses ten bands, from below 800 to 2400+. Classic gives 100 points for the correct band and 50 for a neighbouring band.
Read the decisions, not just the highlight
Start with a broad skill range and narrow it using several clues. One impressive flick or aerial can happen at many ranks. A short clip cannot establish someone's overall skill with certainty.
- Before the play: look for useful positioning, preparation and awareness of teammates.
- During the play: look for control and repeatable choices, including how resources and cooldowns are used.
- After a mistake: watch the recovery. Does the player adapt or repeat the same risky choice?
Each game page has its own clues and lists the rank options used by GTR. Those options may group divisions or reflect older clips; they are not a complete, current ranking guide for the original game.
Play with friends or your viewers
Sign in for party rooms or ranked matchmaking. Free party hosts can invite up to 5 players in total; Pro raises the room limit to 20. Ranked multiplayer has its own MMR and results rules.

Submit a clip with its game and actual rank. Choose a clip that shows enough context to make a guess and does not reveal the answer on screen. Submissions are reviewed before they enter the game.
